100th Post - Moving to Shanghai

This is the 100th post at The China Expat.

Moving to Shanghai

It is also a time of change for me personally. In about two weeks, I will be moving up to Shanghai for a real job with my girlfriend.

There I will be working pretty closely with people in Delphi & Visteon, China, helping to source car parts and components being made in China, largely for General Motors. The company I will be working with is a small service and engineering firm.

Will Miss Shenzhen

I’m going to miss Shenzhen. Southern China has been a decent experience, but it is time to move on, for now. Maybe I’ll end up in Hong Kong or even Guangzhou someday, but not now. I miss the States the most though. Sometimes it is hard being an expat, especially in a place like China!

It’s going to take quite a bit of work to get up to speed in this area of work, and even once I am up to speed things will be quite busy. So after I begin working real hours (read: long) there will be much less time to update this site. However, I will keep adding to it on at least a weekly basis (for the most part), and may add more personal thoughts and observation than now.

Any Suggestions for The China Expat (this site)?

Any suggestions, thoughts? At some point I am going to do a design overhaul to make this site easier on the eyes to just read through. I also have plans to add much more interesting content, but it will take time and more effort than just sitting down and translating articles or typing out a few thoughts about this or that China-related thing.
