There are Letters and numbers before the train number, they have different meanings, as follow:
5xxx,6xxx,7xxx,8xxx(Deadly Slow)
1xxx,2xxx,3xxx,4xxx
(Slow)
K (fast)
T (faster has less stations to stop than K trains)
Z (faster than T,draw directly from the begining station to the final station)
D(Super Sonic )

Hey Michael,

Thanks for the further advice, I didn't know that a T is typically faster than a K for trains, even though I've taken plenty of both =)

The usual deal with trains is the higher the letter the faster the train... except for "D" trains, which are the newest and fastest. That is, a "T" train will be faster than a "K" train. Avoid like the plague any trains that don't have a letter, but usually just a four-digit number.

Out here in Xinjiang, sometimes they can't be avoided, but they are the slowest trains of all and often lack air conditioning and/or heat. On the upside, they are often half the price of other trains.
