I have always wondered what happens to the poor Chinese girlfriends of foreigners here when the foreigners leaves for good...

Maybe that is why I don't get too involved with foreigners!

Hey Canrun,

You are probably right, at least for a couple of years. Such is life, no?

Look, the bottom line as it sounds for you is that you NEED TO STAY in China for the foreseeable future. That's the only answer to all this. You made that bed when you got the girlfriend. Now you've gotta sleep in it. That's the brass tax facts of it all, 朋友.

Hey Josh -

Five bucks for Indian food is cheap! The only place you can get it cheaper in China are the little tourist towns that cater to foreigners heavily (ie ones with enough foreign food selections that an Indian restaurant has moved in)

And I actually get paid in a relatively small amount of US dollars, so it declining hurts a lot really. Heh... about 8.5% down and counting from the original peg.

When I went back to the states the first time I kept saying things like "five bucks for Indian food? What a rip-off!"

Horray for becoming cheap. Of course with the dollar dropping things are evening out slightly.
