Bad Chinese Words

(scroll to the bottom for 7 bad word phrases in Chinese or see a post with simpler bad words in Chinese)

Yesterday a Chinese person was very angry at me for not wanting to help him get a cut of a teaching contract. The reason I didn’t want to do the teaching was I believed he wanted way too high of a cut as a “manager’s fee”, in fact he wanted 20% of the job’s total pay.

Don’t need an agent for teaching English in China - at least not for $1000

Over the course of the five months the contract would have been for, he would earn at least 6000元. So he could have easily earned US$1000 just for introducing me to a company I was going to be teaching at, and making sure I showed up. Well, after I refused the gig and let him know I thought he was ripping me off, he had this to say:

抄你妈蠢才滚出中国

I’m not going to translate this from Chinese as I think that is not what I want this blog to be full of, but you can hover your mouse over the characters for the Pīnyīn. I don’t think it is the kind of reception expats in China would want to get, however.

Now, I didn’t respond to this, or to the garbled English cursing that came next, but what is funny are the things my girlfriend sent back to me in Chinese. I didn’t use them, but they are pretty funny and/or useful. Here they are:

7 Creative bad word phrases in Chinese

(hints: if you press play quickly on every file in the list without waiting for them to load they will pre-load, then you can start at the top again. Also, if you hover over the characters you will see pinyin)

  • 他是个狗养的蠢材 (He is an idiot raised by dogs)
  • 他是个神经病 (He is a crazy person)
  • 他妈的脑子里有大便 (His Mom’s brain has poop in it)
  • 操他祖宗十八代 (**** 18 generations of his ancestors)
  • 他身体里长满大便屎虫 (His body is full of poop insects)
  • 他小弟弟给猪吃了 (His private part was eaten by pigs)
  • 他是什么狗娘养的大便虫 (What kind of b**** raised poop insect is he?)

All pretty amusing, I have to say. I did not give the phone number to my girlfriend to call or message this guy, as that would probably have been a bit too much.

    有的中文的确不好听,所以还是不要研究那些脏话了。中国的成语还是不错的,还有优美的抒情散文,你可以学到很多很特别的表达方式。

    Hi Himura,

There are indeed some great ways to express yourself in Chinese that are not available in English - thanks for the reminder but it’s still fun to look at bad words from any language.

    我同意你的看法—中文的确有很多非常特别表达的方式。但是看我女朋友在这个情况有这样的反映也很值得和大家一起分享。。。

    我也从来没有这样对中国人说。一个中国人反而对我说这么没有素质的话(抄你妈蠢才滚出中国)– 你说我该怎么做?直接骂他或者在这个网页发泄一下?

That person is really rude! I think one should never ever use those words. Unfortunately, there do exist this kind of people around us. Wish you find a better agent next time!
