Fake China What?

Fake ChocolateIn China, anything can be faked.

In case you haven’t guessed from the picture, that includes chocolate.

Giving Fake Chocolate As A Gift Is A No-No

A friend brought back some Ferrero Roche chocolate balls from Guangdong province several months ago. A very nice gift, right?

Not when you give fake chocolate! Bastard!

Just One Taste Gave It Away

This chocolate wasn’t ‘real’ chocolate. Sure, it tasted like chocolate, but it wasn’t as tasty as it should have been.

And when some family sent some more Ferrero Roche chocolate for a birthday present, it was confirmed: The other chocolate was fake Ferrero Roche.

The fake chocolate wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t really good. Which means that a lot of people in China would’ve been fooled by the taste.

Can you tell which one is real and which is fake?

(note: the slight against a friend was fake too - ‘fake’ or real the chocolate still was a very nice gift)

hi, this is v interesting. i m surprised by myself… i cannot tell the difference. maybe if i were to eat it, i can tell, because good chocolate is very distinctive. but just looking at it i cannot say which is fake.

Hi Anthony, the fake one is still not so bad - but anyone who really likes chocolate would be able to tell the difference.

hi jeremy, i suppose from the packaging, the left one is fake, right? i have never cut open one of those things so cannot tell from the cross section which one is the fake one. In fact, i did not know there is a large nut in the centre. When I eat it, and u can tell that i dont eat chocolate a lot, i dont recall eating a large nut inside. it must be worrying to have all these fakes made in china. they are bound to end up in western shores, and then we will all be suspicious and be doubtful if anything we buy is fake or not.

Hi Anthony - The fake one is on the right =) Maybe you would be a little bit worried about fake goods outside of China, but the real danger is getting fake stuff within China.

hi jeremy, thanks for telling me which one is real. Trust me to guess wrong. Haven’t eaten one of those for years. and even then, when I ate it, the packing was the last thing i would notice. haha.
