Oh dear! I literally sat down and ate one 10 minutes ago.

Sadly, I can't tell from looking at these.

What worried me most though was a report on UK TV about fake eggs in China (created using chemical gloops). Fortunately, I don't think they've managed to get the shells perfected yet.

I'm a Rocher lover and this saddens me.

The distinct differences I see just from the photo from the outside in...

~ Wrapper on the fake is too "tight" the wrinkle to the wrapper isn't there.

~ The outer layer of the chocolate on the fake doesn't have the same quantity of chopped nuts, and causes it to have flat gaps. I've never seen a Rocher with a smooth outer coating.

~ The chocolate "fudgey" center on the fake is not as plentiful. It looks harder too.

~ the fake looks to have a generous sized hazelnut, if it really is a hazelnut. O_O But that takes away from the inner chocolate goodness.

I need a fix now. Thanks. ;)

hi jeremy, thanks for telling me which one is real. Trust me to guess wrong. Haven't eaten one of those for years. and even then, when I ate it, the packing was the last thing i would notice. haha.

Hi Anthony - The fake one is on the right =) Maybe you would be a little bit worried about fake goods outside of China, but the real danger is getting fake stuff within China.

hi jeremy, i suppose from the packaging, the left one is fake, right? i have never cut open one of those things so cannot tell from the cross section which one is the fake one. In fact, i did not know there is a large nut in the centre. When I eat it, and u can tell that i dont eat chocolate a lot, i dont recall eating a large nut inside. it must be worrying to have all these fakes made in china. they are bound to end up in western shores, and then we will all be suspicious and be doubtful if anything we buy is fake or not.

Hi Anthony, the fake one is still not so bad - but anyone who really likes chocolate would be able to tell the difference.

hi, this is v interesting. i m surprised by myself... i cannot tell the difference. maybe if i were to eat it, i can tell, because good chocolate is very distinctive. but just looking at it i cannot say which is fake.
