Group writing project: What comes after China?

Trying to figure out what to do after China is a question that has haunted me for years, and it might be one that seriously concerns you.

Need a plan for the transition out of China

Leaving China

It’s hard to make a transition back home after China, especially without a clear plan. And the longer you stay in China, the harder it may be to get a job and move on with life back home.

Another China blog project

After reading through Ryan’s If I knew then what I know now, many thoughts for group writing projects started running through my mind. But this was the first idea I had to carry out.

Life after China

The main idea behind this project is to write about how you are preparing for life after China, or, if you’ve already left, how you adjusted and what you did to push along this process. This will help those of us still in China (or perhaps even those who aren’t even here yet) in our thinking about the future. It may inspire some of us in new directions. It may give hope to others fearing job interviews with questions like “what did you learn from China?”, or the prospect of no job at all.

What to do

It’s pretty simple to participate. This is all you have to do:

  1. Write a post as described above, with a link back to this page.
  2. Send me a message through the contact link in the upper right hand of your screen or email me at jeremy@thechinaexpat.com with the post’s title, the link to the post, and the name you would like listed with the post by Wednesday, July 4th whenever.
  3. If you want, download and use the picture in this post for your own post.

I will prominently place a link to a post with everyone’s submissions under Expat Advice above, and will start as soon as I receive the first submissions (and then update the post as more submissions come in). This will help future readers of this blog (by providing much needed advice) and hopefully bring some traffic to your blog in the coming days, months, and years.

Thanks for your help. I need it!

Good topic man. I look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with - and I look forward to trying and wrapping my brain around it as well - god knows it’s about time I do that. ;-)
