Is it not really safe? I've been having it with my coffee everyday for a month now. I just arrived and I have to live here for a while.

I think the milk in China tastes better ....more richer than the watered down 1 or 2 percent.Heck even better than the homogenized 3% milk.

Don't get Italian in a rural city in Texas, they'll probably call it Ay-talyon. Don't order shellfish at a Chicago Pizzaria. And don't eat beef or drink milk in China. Though I have had a few decent dishes with beef in them, I think the pork or pork-related products are better. Why drink milk when Soymilk is so much better for you? Just get the Black or white "Dou-jyang"(fourth tone, first tone). It tastes great, has more protein & is much better for you. I stopped drinking so much milk when I was still in the US. Milk & cow-related products just aren't that healthy for you. Besides, adults don't need to drink much at all. I would recommend taking vitamins though. In the US you get additives to everything, so you'll probably be lacking Vitamin D, etc. I would buy an American brand, they are highly advertised in stores. Besides, did you know that per oz, cow-cheese has 30 more calories than feta-cheese? Not like you can really get feta here anyway, but you get the point. I would just eat at normal chinese restaurants rather than wierd Chinese-American hybrids. There is enough variety here.

I would probably never drink a whole glass of milk mainly due to the taste, but I'll add it to my coffee. Like Jeremy said, the tainted milk affects children more than adults. I was raised on 2% US dairy milk, so milk in China just taste too weird for my stomach.

Hey Kiss of X - I wouldn't be too worried about all of it, they said adults can drink up to 8 liters a day of the tainted stuff without getting really affected.

Question is can you spot the dairy? How about the latte at Starbuck's, made with milk from Nanjing? How about the mayo in the tuna sandwich? The pizza cheese?

My question is, what is going on right now that we haven't discovered???

@Fauna - Just wait for the giant milk chocolate scandal...

Just read that for adults and older children small quantities of milk (less than 2 liters a day) are safe, due to the ability of our bodies to process small amounts of melamine. But I wouldn't push the upper limits.
