I was xpired for almost a year. I was caught at home due to a storm. I got 8 days in jail, the embassy told my family they NEED to western union money to me to get home, I got a police escort direct to the airplane gate the night I got out of prison(my exit visa was for 10 days), and before hopping on the plane, they took 13,000 rmb of my money (they claim it was for the plane ticket from Shanghai to LA which is wrong. They also charged me for the fines which they're not supposed to since I did time. Embassy argued with the officers about it at the Western Union, but they dumped him at the consulate office so I didnt have the embassy at my back after he got me a temp passport). Really I was to go to Iowa, not California. Instead, they send me direct to California and run off with most of my money leavin me with only 450 USD in LA.

hi, i am from Nepal. I had X visa from 2004 to Dem 2008, when i graduated, i got an F visa for 30 days, but i didn't want to leave China. On the last day of my F visa, i came to Shanghai and got L visa for 10 days. But again i didn have enough money to buy ticket to leave, so my visa was expired on 26, April, 2009. Now i am still in China, but due to visa problem, i am helpless. i have a Chinese girlfriend, whom i have stayed for 7 years and who is ready to get married to me. Can we register our marriage with this expired visa? Thanks a lot. Charles

Sonia. Just go to immigration or PSB in Guangzhou and take 5000 RMB with you as some story why you overstayed your visa. 5000 is maximum, normally 500 per day, depending on whether the officer @likes@ your face or not. 5k is the maximum. Should not be big hazzle and done fast. If you dont have the money then do not go.

Hey I want to ask if anybody knows how to fix a visa problem? I have not reached 1 year expired yet and I'm looking for a way to fix this. I have responsibilities here and would like to come back (not be banned for life). I was cheated by a guy whom I taught english in his private school. He doesnt have a location, but he now runs a club and for proof I have his phone number still on my phone and all the paperwork I've written for him saved on my USB. He never paid me according to the work I did and always said he'd get me a visa which he never did. I quit and moved to a different person that had the means of helping by contacting an American bar owner to provide me a part time job and a work visa. Well, the end of the week calls me back says the guy is in a lawsuit with his landlord and losing his business, but I can help this lady paint apartments and she can offer me dinners in exchange for my help. Now she wants to hire me as a full time employee, but cant because of my visa situation and I'm asking if there is anyway to fix this. I hear people say "get married" or "report a stolen passport". Some say visa agents can fix, but I feel they'd just as easy hand me over to immigration and pocket all the money I pay them. I never smoke, I rarely drink, I dont drive, I dont have a full time job (but I have one lined up whenever I fix my situation).

I'm from the US and I've been in China with a F visa. My visa is about to expire and I've heard that when I reapply back home I need to wait for 3 weeks before returning to China. I love the idea of having a 3 week break but do I really need to leave China for that long before being allowed to return. Thanks

to desprite now: you will have to go to the police station and they will give you instructions on what you will need to do. you might just get a fine and or spend sometime in jail and they will make you leave the country and apply for a new visa. it will depend on what the police station says. but you will not be able to get married with out taking care of it.
applying for a new visa can be a problem

I am still in China and I have overstayed my visa since 2007. I'm a US Citizen. It was a 30day visa. I applied for an extension back in 2007 and they said no then, so I just stayed. My GF and I have been together since then (5 years). We just wanna get married and start a life here. I speak fluent Chinese and have my girlfriends family has been supporting us.

I really need some help!
