Toys from China 2008 Expected Price Increase - 10%

Prices of Toys from China to Surge Next Year

Sounds like some bad business news for American children. Thanks to the toy recalls and better quality control measures, toys from China are bound to become more expensive next year. That’s exactly what this blurb translated out of this week’s Modern Weekly says:

A series of toys recalls and the new stricter controls being placed on Chinese exports are raising the costs of Chinese toy manufacturers. Because of this, next year American consumers will likely face increases of 10% in toy prices. The increase in toy prices will be the highest in Western toy markets in recent history.

It’s a tough time to be a kid, huh?
