Who Built The Great Wall of China?
The question of who built the Great Wall of China would seem to refer to who built the first wall, since the Great Wall is really a series of walls that were built across many Dynasties. The first Great Wall, known as 万里长城 (wàn lǐ cháng chéng - 10,000 Li / 5,000 km Great Wall or ‘Infinite’ Great Wall), was created by connecting sections that were built by different kingdoms during the Spring & Autumn Period and Warring States Period. So who built the connecting sections and completed the first Great Wall of China? None other than the first true emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang, who finished uniting China under an iron fist in 221 BC.
